Bonnie’s journey as an artist began after being diagnosed with cancer. “Being a Stage IV lung cancer patient and going through surgeries and treatments over the past 5 years, I discovered I no longer had a " fear of failure”. The fight of true “freedom” prompted me to try things I was always afraid of accomplishing.  Art was something that just started flowing out of every pore, and it was almost scary producing enough to have my first art show four months after starting.”

"Racing Around" by Bonnie Ziskin

Bonnie enjoys being an artist for the way she can make people feel through her art. “Most of my art is in primary colors and is meant to put a smile on your face. People that walk into my studio or booth at fairs leave with a smile which means my “mission was accomplished”.” Her art has also made her feel this way. “I can hardly wait to jump out of bed in the morning and start a project, even if still in a bathrobe. I consider being an artist the most fun time of my life, and also the most prolific.” Bonnie’s advice to other artists is to not be afraid to fail.

"Jig Saw Puzzle" by Bonnie Ziskin

Bonnie uses Golden State Art mat boards to sell the art she offers on paper. “Golden State Art has allowed me to mat my acrylic mixed media on paper. I sell them already matted to look more professional. I have tried other suppliers, but the quality and color (white) make my painting crisp looking. I love the mats with the bags and backing.  I will never use another company for this. I am sold.”
