Chelsea Amato is a collage artist based in Austin, Texas. She has been an artist for four years. “I tried collage artwork and found I couldn't stop making pieces. Over time my hobby became full time work.” You can view her portfolio and shop her work on her website, www.chelseascreename.com

As an artist, Chelsea most enjoys the process of creating her artwork. “I enjoy putting a series together. I enjoy planning color schemes. I enjoy expressing myself.” Her favorite pieces are her larger pieces that challenge her as an artist. “I like my 16x60 pieces the most. They were the most challenging to make, so the most rewarding.” In her artwork, she depicts the realness of the human experience. “I enjoy creating artwork with nudes and skulls. I find playing with themes of the human body and death to be interesting for the viewer and myself.”

When beginning a new project or piece, Chelsea is often inspired by the ideas that come to her mind. “Usually an idea will inspire me. Sometimes one idea will turn into an entire series.” To aspiring artists, Chelsea encourages getting in touch with one's individual artistic style. “I would advise you to do your own thing and try to create your own style. Don't copy style, make your own.” Chelsea found Golden State Art when looking for backing boards for her artwork. “I heard about Golden State Art from trying to find companies that produce bulk backing boards. It was a google search. The backing boards have helped increase value to my work. I find people attracted to the heft of the artwork with the backing boards.”
