The Traveling Mat: Going Back in Time at Old Sacramento
This month we traveled to the heart of California (or at least the Capitol :D): Sacramento. Home of the California State Capitol building, Old Sacramento, Tower Bridge (known for its bright yellow color), and more, Sacramento is a bustling city full of culture, great food, and sprawling parks. For this Traveling Mat adventure we took to the cobblestone streets of Old Sacramento to showcase what the area has to offer.
Old Sacramento is a historic area known for its role in “some of the most influential history for the city.” Now, Old Sacramento offers shopping and entertainment for its over 4 million visitors each year.
We decided to visit early in the morning before the hustle and bustle began, which allowed for a peaceful and enjoyable experience photographing it through the “eyes” of a mat board.
Simply walking around Old Sacramento is immersing yourself in the history of the area. Other activities include the California State Railroad Museum, Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum, and the California Automobile Museum to name a few.
We hope you enjoyed this walk through Old Sacramento with us, and that you too are inspired to visit this piece of California history as well. Show us your experience, here or anywhere, using the hashtag #gsatravelingmat on Instagram!
