Angie Welch is an intuitive artist, psychic, and medium who resides in Maine. After leaving her career in social work, Angie began working full time as a psychic and medium and began creating personalized art pieces that combine all her gifts and create a visual element to her readings. “I LOVE what I do and can't imagine going back to the confines of a traditional job.  I've always loved art and have drawn and just played with art my whole life.  Additionally, I've been able to see and connect with those who have left this physical existence since I was a small child.  When I first began doing my mediumship professionally (the end of 2012) I did it with art mediumship - drawing while giving a mediumship or psychic message.  It was a natural way to not just dip my foot in to the spiritual profession but to jump headfirst!  I'm so glad I did.”

Some of the best and often most profound messages seem to come from the "oops" or "I don't like the way this looks" moments.

Angie began using art and drawing as a means of processing her own feelings, which led her to use art for others in mediumship. “I would draw and just think... and then work through my problems. At one time I considered doing art therapy as a profession, but never committed to following that path. I found my own way to bring art and healing together with my art mediumship.” She enjoys the creativity and freedom art affords her. “I don't have to follow rules! I used to worry that my artwork didn't look real enough, and finally realized that it doesn't have to. My style is definitely unique and I'm happy with that.”

Angie’s favorite art piece is Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. “I love the magical and mystical way he painted. His vision was dreamy, at time pained, but it speaks to me.” In her own work, she is inspired by nature. “Trees are my favorite thing to draw and paint. I often flip the paper or canvas so that I can draw and paint them upside down.  I find it helps me with the flow of the branches.”

When beginning a new piece, Angie is driven by her desire to bring healing to both herself and to others. “When doing art mediumship, the colors all become part of the reading, significant pieces of the message. And for painting and drawing I want some sort of emotion to either touch myself or the person it's created for. I want people to feel GOOD when they are looking at my work.”

Angie encourages aspiring artists to embrace and learn from the mistakes you will make along the way. “Mistakes are part of the process and can be beautiful. I always loved (and still do) how Bob Ross could take a mistake and turn it into a bird or something. I look for specific messages in the mistakes. One of the other things I get to do in my spiritual business is teach paint nights, but as always, I do them my way. I call them Masterpiece and Messages. I give people a message directly FROM their painting... no matter what it is we are painting. Some of the best and often most profound messages seem to come from the "oops" or "I don't like the way this looks" moments.”

Angie found Golden State Art while looking for mat boards for her artwork. “I was googling, looking for inexpensive, but quality photo mats for my art mediumship. I stumbled upon Golden State [Art] - all the way across the country and gave them a try. The quality is superb, and the price is reasonable. I've been a customer for at least 6 or 7 years now. When I first started doing art mediumship, I just put the pictures in a Ziplock baggie and gave it to the client. When I started using the photo mats from GSA it gave my pieces an incredibly professional appearance. People send me photos all the time of their art mediumship drawings proudly displayed on their walls. It blows my mind to think my art is on hundreds of people's walls.”
