Artist Spotlight: Randy Laub

Randy Laub is a professional photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has been taking photographs since he was a child and began doing it professionally in 2010. He has photographed and shared images from places around the world, including Italy, Paris, Germany and more. Randy began taking photographs in his childhood, and was inspired to become a professional photographer during his travels around the Europe and work as a travel agent. “What inspired me to be a professional photographer was consistently traveling (minimum once a year) to Italy for travel industry conferences; I owned a local travel agency at the time. After one of these many travel conferences, once back home, I was invited, out of the blue, to show my photography in a local coffee shop - a solo show. It just kept going from there.” He enjoys creating and sharing his work with others. “I enjoy creating something which brings people happiness, which brings very happy memories or inspires one to travel.”

Randy’s most prized photograph is that of a semi-circular stairway in an art museum in London, found here. He finds Europe to be the subject he most enjoys photographing, and the many beautiful cities the continent has to offer. When beginning a new project or piece, Randy finds inspiration in different ways each time. “It has come from customers at times; a place or subject matter they've mentioned.  Other times, it's come from my past travels and wanting to return to that location.” 

To aspiring photographers, Randy encourages working hard to achieve success. “Success does not come easily or without effort. It takes time. It's not a short game but a long game. Keep going.” 

Randy discovered Golden State Art from a local photographer, and has been a loyal client for the past six years! He is currently working on a new project involving mosaic artwork. “I am spending part of my time returning to creating mosaic artworks using treated paper as the tiles (instead of ceramic or  glass)” Keep up with this and future projects on Randy’s website and social media below!
