Max Morel is a photographer and first responder based in Jacksonville, Florida. “I’m a first responder who’s also doubled as a photographer for over 7 years now. Getting away into wilderness or even street photography has been a forte of mine. I’m currently in Jacksonville, Florida, however, prior to the pandemic I was able to travel all over enjoying and pursuing nature.” He offers his prints for sale on his website, www.rellikphotos.com

Max was inspired to begin taking photographs as a child. “Art and photography both came easy to me as a young child. To be able to capture a moment that can live on forever no matter what the emotions and or feelings a work of art or photo portrays is what I try to obtain.” As a photographer, he enjoys the ability to escape into the art form. “Working as a first responder life tends to get rough and stressful at times. Getting away into art or photography I find that I easily lose track of time due to how much I enjoy it.” His favorite photograph is one of a local bridge in Jacksonville he took (pictured below). “Currently one of my favorite images is one of a local bridge. The image was taken using a long exposure to capture the moment of the River below. The fog gives the image a mysterious look and feel as it engulfs and ultimately makes the bridge itself disappear.”

In his work, he enjoys capturing flowers the most. “Flowers come in all shapes and sizes. The potential with them is endless along with the colors. There’s been a variety of ways I’ve enjoyed taking images of flowers but by far macro photography to capture their essence has been a joy.” When beginning a new project or piece Max often finds inspiration from within. “Inspiration usually comes from within. Trying to capture the feelings or emotions a subject has is always a challenge.” To aspiring artists, he encourages never giving up. “Keep going. Sometimes the image you don’t take is the one you’ll regret.”

Max discovered Golden State Art through an online search. “The products provided by Golden State Art have been phenomenal thus far. I currently purchase bulk mats ranging in all sizes. The mats themselves add to the image bringing it to life and they are prepped for their new homes.” Max is currently working on two new series’ “I’m currently working on creatures in the dark and phases of the moon.” To keep up with this and Max’s future projects, visit the links below.
