Trace was inspired to begin taking photographs as a child. “A strong connect to the photographers of the many magazines I had as a youth when I was stuck in bed with rheumatic fever in grade 5. It's grown even more over the years.” As a photographer and artist, he enjoys the creative process his mind takes when creating a piece. “The creative part of my brain fascinates me, it seems to always be active even when doing mundane things. I appreciate the gift and live to share it.”

One of Trace’s favorite captures of, “A spiderweb appearing in front of a cow on a foggy Kentucky morning.”

Trace enjoys capturing many subjects in his work, including models and animals. “I photograph a lot of models and have been published many times internationally. I have submitted my equine photos however. I love capturing a moment in nature also.” When beginning a new project or piece, he finds inspiration in many different ways depending on what he is working on. “Inspiration comes in many forms. Seeing something in nature may trigger an idea. The way light hits objects or people. Coming across a scene or having a company or model hire me and being inspired by their look of subject matter.”

To aspiring photographers, Trace encourages capturing as many photographs as possible. “Shoot a lot! Your first 10,000 pictures will be your worst.” Trace began using Golden State Art products some time ago for his photographs and artwork. “I’ve been ordering your products for years to present my art in. Quality matting and supporting products enhance my work for my sales.”

Currently, Trace is working on art in response to the war in Ukraine. "I’ve created and continue to create art as a way of dealing with the war in Ukraine. I have friends from there and Belarus." A portion of the collection is shown below.
