This month we visited the small mountain town of Highlands, North Carolina and surrounding area with our mat board in tow. Fall was in full swing, and the beautiful autumnal colors took our breath away!
Highlands is a quaint town located near the border of North Carolina and Georgia. Surrounded by beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls, the town is home to around 3,200 people and is a popular spot for vacation homes, with the population rising to around 18,000 during the summer months! We also visited Gorges State Park - a state park about 40 minutes from Highlands offering sprawling views, a collection of waterfalls, and wildlife viewing opportunities.
