Clement Davinci is a watercolor artist based in Philadelphia. “ I have been painting in watercolors for over 25 years. My last name is DaVinci, it's a tough name to live up to, but I try. I have been drawing and sketching as far back as I can remember.” Clement offers his paintings for sale on his Etsy shop, www.etsy.com/DaVinciWaterColors.

As an artist, Clement enjoys the joy creating art brings him and the ability to travel to places he has not yet traveled to. “It gives me a purpose, something to look forward to everyday. Sometimes I am traveling to places I will never get to see, but I visit them in my paintings.” His favorite works of art come from artist John Singer Sargent and Andrew Wyeth. “I love so many, but maybe John Singer Sargent's "The Green Parasol" comes to mind. Also Andrew Wyeth's "Evening at Kuerners"

In his own work, Clement enjoys depicting unique landscapes. “I love to paint what I call "untouched" landscapes, beautiful places that have not been overpopulated. Places that bring me back closer to nature, or maybe a simpler life in a small town or village.” When beginning a new project or piece, he is often inspired by the work of Edgar Whitney. “One of my favorite artist teachers is Edgar Whitney. I love his methods, it's such a loose and dramatic way of painting.”

To aspiring artists, Clement encourages staying calm and trusting the process. “Don't get frustrated early on. It takes time to get past those early stages of failure paintings. Especially watercolor. It's an easy medium to pick up but you soon find out how difficult it can be to actually create a keeper.” He discovered Golden State Art when searching online for supplies for his art. “[Golden State Art] provides quality products at affordable prices to help keep my prices down.” Clement is currently working on a new collection for Spring. “I am working on new pieces everyday. Looks like a Spring Collection is in the making right now. With possibly a collection on Alaska coming up.”
